Claim Medicare Rebates on Appointments.

With a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, you can claim Medicare rebates on appointments with David Nowland because he is a registered provider with Medicare.

Am I eligible to claim a rebate?

Medicare rebates are available for people with “an assessed mental disorder” that is being managed by a GP under a GP Mental Health Care Plan or through a psychiatrist assessment and management plan, or for treatment of a child, on direct referral from a psychiatrist or a paediatrician.

Couples Therapy is not eligible to receive Medicare Rebates.
If you have Private Health Insurance,  please check with your insurer regarding rebates.
The Private Health Insurance Item Number for Couples Therapy is 300.

How do I obtain a referral?

To obtain the initial referral, you will usually need to make an extended appointment with your GP – so the GP can ask questions and complete a Mental Health Care Plan for you.

With this plan, you will be entitled to a Medicare rebate of 10 individual psychological therapy sessions per calendar year. After 6 sessions, David will prepare a brief report for your GP. If you require further treatment, you will need to make a review appointment with your GP to access the remaining 4 sessions and bring the review paperwork to your next appointment.

How do I claim the rebate?

Please bring your Mental Health Care Plan to your first appointment to be eligible for a Medicare rebate. After paying your session fee, David can process your rebate directly with Medicare, and the rebate is usually deposited into your bank account within a few days.
